Liposuction for Women

Liposuction is still the best way to remove unwanted body fat which has not responded to diet and exercise.

WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?

Liposuction is all about Body Contouring and Body Shaping. We are not talking about losing weight. It’s all about SHAPE.

The instruments used are smaller and the procedure is more gentle.  It allows for detailed body contouring to get the best shape possible for the person.  It is BEST DONE WITH TUMESCENT ANAESTHESIA using LOCAL ANAESTHETICS to infiltrate only the parts of the body that require reshaping.  Sedation is always given to enhance comfort and you will be surprised at how painless the whole procedure is.  Of course it will take longer to achieve the results than a case done under GA.  The upside is the ability to achieve the best possible shape because in being awake the patient can assist the doctor by moving around for him to reach those difficult areas.  Removal of fat is much more complete in every way.  Towards the end of the procedure it is possible to stand the patient up and check on the desired results.  More markings can be made to refine the shape and touch ups can be carried out before the patient is sent home.

It requires a lot of patience, a pair of keen eyes, the artistic flair of an artist and the hands of a sculptor.  Add perfectionism to this list and you have an excellent Liposuction Surgeon.

BALANCE, PROPORTION & HARMONY

The right Balance, the correct Proportions working together in Harmony will give you the best result. You may not lose a lot of weight but the whole exercise is not about losing weight. It’s all about Body Shaping.

GENERAL ANAESTHESIA OR LOCAL ANAESTHESIA

Liposuction can also be done under General Anaesthesia (GA) but this requires hospitalisation and is less safe, with a higher risk of complications. The recovery from a procedure done under GA is more painful and it takes longer to get back to your normal routine. However, if done under Local Anaesthesia you will be able to get back to work after 3 days and may be able to drive a car the next day or go shopping. In smaller cases, patients have gone back to work the following day if the job is not too physical.

All our cases are done using the Tumescent method with Local Anaesthesia. This is what the Top Cosmetic Surgeons in the World are doing. This is the Gold Standard as far as getting the Best Result and the Safest Way to go about performing Liposuction.

WHICH PARTS OF MY BODY ARE SUITABLE FOR LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is appropriate for the following parts of the body:

  • Abdomen
  • Arms
  • Breasts for Reduction
  • Backs
  • Waists & Love Handles
  • Hips
  • Buffalo Humps (Back of Neck)
  • Thighs – Inner, Outer, Front & Back
  • Knees
  • Calves
  • Chin & Jaw line
  • Lower Legs ( Cankles )

HOW MANY AREAS CAN BE DONE IN ONE PROCEDURE?

Liposuction can be carried out on several areas of the body at the same time

Often Abdomen, Hips & Waist are done in the same procedure. Another combination is Both Arms & Upper Back. Another popular combination is Outer Thighs, Inner Thighs and Knees.

However, NSW Health has imposed a limit to the amount of fat we are allowed to remove in one session since March 2017.  So to get the best shape in some cases it may be necessary to undergo several procedures.  Come in and have a consult to find out if we can achieve the ideal shape for you in the least number of procedures. We are conscious of the fact that the more procedures are required the more costly it will be. So our expertise is the secret to get the best shape out of a person in the least number of procedures as possible. Most of the time only one procedure is necessary.

HOW LONG WILL MY NEW SHAPE REMAIN LOOKING GOOD?

It varies from person to person depending on how you look after yourself. If you are able to maintain the same weight your new shape will not change. It is important to stay on a healthy diet and continue to exercise. If you gain weight and your shape starts to change it is easier for you to regain your new shape by losing your weight again. However, excessive weight gain will result in deposits of fat in the other parts of the body leading to disproportion in shape again, with the already treated parts remaining smaller compared to the larger size of the parts which were not treated. The most common parts of the body to increase in size after Liposuction are the Breasts.

HOW MUCH FAT CAN BE TAKEN OUT IN ONE PROCEDURE?

Apart from the restriction to 2500 mls of fat that can be removed in a single procedure imposed by the NSW Medical Board, there are other factors that restricts the total amount that can be removed.  In a person with loose skin taking out too much fat can cause the skin to be even more loose and saggy.  In a person with a low body weight it is not healthy to take out too much fat in one procedure. The Skill, the Expertise and the Experience of your Liposuction.

Surgeon will help him or she to determine what is the optimum amount of fat that can be safely removed to achieve that desired result most appropriate for you.

HOW DO I RECOGNISE THE IDEAL LIPOSUCTION SURGEON?

He will impress you with the Passion he demonstrates about the subject of Body Shaping. His Expertise, Skill and Experience will come through in the results he has achieved and he will always be willing to share this with you. He will be humble, easy to talk to , always prepared to listen to you and you will feel at ease and comfortable.  It is natural for you to be apprehensive about the procedure you are going to undertake and you will be apprehensive about the outcome. Never be afraid to convey to him how you feel about your body shape so that he can advise you as to whether you are able to get the result that you want. His honesty together with his expertise will allow him to determine if what you are asking him to do is achievable or not. Maybe your expectations are too high. Maybe he does not have enough skill to give you the desired result. At the end of the consultation you must be comfortable and that helps you to make the right decision.

The Ideal Liposuction Surgeon must have an innate appreciation of beauty, the sharp eyes of an eagle and the hands of a sculptor. Combine all these attributes with a strong sense of curves, flowing lines, balance, proportions and harmony – that is who you are looking for.

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?

We know what we are doing and we know we are good. The Medical Board of Australia does not allow any practitioner to advertise he is the best. So the only way for you to find out if we know what we are doing is to make an appointment and ask for a Liposuction consult. You will be given a quote which will be valid for 3 months thus allowing you time to think it over. When you are ready you will be asked to do a blood test to make sure that you are well enough to undergo the procedure and make a quick recovery.
